Account Deletion

1. Overview
You can delete your Capsly account at any time. The deletion request is processed immediately; for 30 days you may sign back in to reactivate the account, or simply wait out the period for permanent deletion.
This page exists to satisfy Apple App Store and Google Play's requirement that users be able to initiate account deletion outside the app as well.
2. Deleting from inside the app
The fastest path is from inside the app:
- Open Capsly and sign in to your account.
- Go to Profile → Settings.
- Scroll down and tap Delete My Account.
- Read the confirmation screen and confirm.
Your account is deactivated immediately, and the 30-day grace period begins.
3. 30-day grace period and reactivation
- After deletion is requested, your data is retained for 30 days.
- If you sign in with the same email during this window, you'll be offered a "Reactivate account" option that restores your data.
- At the end of the 30 days, your personal data is permanently deleted or anonymized.
- The grace period does not apply to records that we are legally required to retain (e.g. security logs), which are kept for at most 12 months.
4. Manual request when you cannot access the app
If you cannot access your phone or your account (lost device, no email access, etc.) you can request deletion by email:
- Address: support@capsly.app
- Subject: Account Deletion Request
- Please include:
- Your registered email address
- Your Capsly username (if known)
- For identity verification, send the request from the same email used to register
Your request will be answered within 30 days. We may ask for additional verification to prevent fraudulent requests.
5. What is deleted and what is retained
Deleted
- Profile data (email, username, avatar, password hash)
- Uploaded videos, thumbnails, and metadata
- Follow relationships, votes, predictions
- FCM push token and device bindings
- Your feed impression records
Retained
- Metadata for already-published videos may be preserved under an anonymous/deleted account for content integrity (no longer linked to your identity).
- Security and abuse logs are retained for up to 12 months.
- Records we are legally required to keep are retained for the period required by law.
